Chinese new year 2016

Although we don't have a big family in Sydney, Chinese new year is always a nice time to gather together, share a meal and reminisce/discover what little Chinese culture we have inherited! Often people ask what I did for Chinese new year, and i'm not sure what other festivities are supposed to happen other than eating together and giving/receiving red pockets!
I did find out recently though that apparently Chinese new year is the time of the year that has the largest annual human migration rate! How fascinating, i am definitely in the fortunate minority that have my immediate family in Sydney (though we missed Mario & J in Brisbane and our cousins, aunties and uncles and grandma in Hong Kong)!
Mum told us we can make anything for dinner and we just had to make up some 'significant name'. However, try as we did we could not come up with any nifty puns for our duck and pork dishes... though i think the noodles and faat choi have some Chinese significance!!

Menu
Yee Mein with button mushrooms and choy sum ~ longevity noodles?
Bogg contribution: Braised duck with roast potatoes
Tofu with shiitake and faat choy (髮菜) - fortune vegetables?
Bec's contribution: pulled pork
BBQ pork with snake beans stir-fry
