Turkish Delight!

RDP: Random Dinner Party
The humble beginnings of a new idea.

So the idea started when i was invited to dinner at a friend of a friend's house, and now i guess i'm passing the favour forward. I have to say, some of my fondest memories from travelling were home-cooked meals, usually with new acquaintances, gotta love some parts of the hostel life!
Since i'm staying put in Sydney at the moment, i thought this would be a good way to carry on the travelling spirit, meet some new people and share my God-given love for food!
The other part of this idea is using the challenge of cooking for others as a motivator to be more creative and experiment with new ingredients and get through that long "Memorable meals I want to try to recreate" list!
So, the idea is simply a small dinner party for 6-8, where i invite a couple of friends to invite a random friend and i will cook up some kind of themed feast with at least a couple of dishes i haven't tried before.
Here's to the first of many!

Turkish Cuisine

Even just thinking up the menu brought back such fond memories of the crazy week in Turkey ~ colourful and crazy Istanbul, momentous Gallipoli, half day in Ephesus and hot air balloon ride over Cappadocia! Four overnight buses and staying in a cave, not to mention the countless kebabs, pide, gozleme, kokoreç (spit roasted intestines in a bun), borek (spinach/meat wrapped pastries), Turkish coffees and teas - definitely highly recommend a visit! :)

The Menu:
Starters:
Home-made hummus and tzaziki by Li en
Home-made sangria (just because)
Mains:
Dessert:
Turkish apple tea or coffee

Thanks for being a part of the night Mel, Russell, Li en, Anthony & Dave!
Hope you had fun and felt well-fed!
