Mascarpone croissants and rhubarb danishes

Snippets of some silly french pastry making moments
This isn't a true cooking blogpost, which seems to be the case when I'm 2-IC (2nd in charge) in the kitchen, which i don't mind but it just doesn't quite feel the same... Nonetheless, last weekend, Paul and i decided to spend all Saturday making french pastry and fresh pasta because we missed cooking, and... that's what we do for kicks! It was super fun though it did take all day and poor Paul was so devastated when the temperamental non-fan forced oven that burns from the bottom destroyed half of our croissants and turned them into opera-house pancake croissants :'(
Step 1: Kneading the dough

Hehe.. dough face
Step 2: Roasting the rhubarb - need heaps of sugar for this otherwise super sour!
(as Paul discovered because i forgot to read the instructions - oops!)
Step 3: Laminating and rolling out croissant pastry
Step 4: Folding the danishes, putting a light custard (which i almost stuffed up with lumps!!) and roasted rhubarb
Step 5: Folding the croissants, with a thin layer of sweetened mascarpone in the middle ~ subtle yet scrumptious!
Step 6: Resting and waiting for the dough to rise, then baking...
The survivors - yummy!
