When you can't sleep in on a Saturday morning, what else is there to do but to bake?
This is an old recipe from high school, i still remember it in our little green school diaries, and does the trick everytime!
Prep time: 30 min
Cooking time: 10-15 min
Ingredients
2 C Self-raising flour
½ tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
40g butter
½ C milk
¼ C water
Method:
1. Preheat oven to 220°C

2. Sift flour and salt, stir in sugar
3. Rub in butter with fingers until resembles breadcrumbs
4. Make hole in centre of flour, pour milk and water
5. Mix lightly and quickly
6. Turn out onto floured surface and knead lightly
7. Pat/roll dough out until 2cm thick, cut into round circles and place close together on greased scone tray
8. Brush top with milk
9. Bake for 10 min or until golden brown
10. Serve with whipped cream and jam!
