Chinese New Year 2017

(feeding 6, but probably enough for 10)
It is a year of 'firsts' in our new home, and Chinese New Year was definitely a special occasion as it was the first time we had my family over for a meal together. We have been feeling very blessed to have the opportunity to buy a place and get settled in for the medium-long term, or as long as God wants us here. Welcome Year of the Rooster and 2017!
For dinner, I decided to try doing the duck 3 ways, just like the restaurant :) Peking duck, duck and mango vermicelli salad, and duck soup - worked out really well and definitely felt like we got value for money out of our duck from Cabramatta - worth the 20min wait!

Menu
Braised pork belly with bok choy
Cloud ear, black moss / fat choy (發菜) & shiitake mushrooms (still need to perfect this dish!)
Peking Duck - in honour of my brother :)
Duck and mango salad
Table all set for dinner!
For dessert, I had a vision of a triple-layered mango dessert consisting of mango pudding, coconut sago and mango jelly. In my mind it was going to be epic as it has all my favourite mango combinations! However, it was a fail as it did not hold together... hence no photo and needs more trial & error! It was yummy though, hard to go wrong with mango, coconut and sago :) Oh well, maybe next year!
