First birthday party!

Our beautiful happy little girl turned out last week, and we have felt so blessed to have her in our lives. It has been quite a year with plenty of up's and down's as we have tried to navigate this crazy new chapter called parenthood! We feel so humbled by the love and support of our family, church family and friends. We wanted to say a big thank you to everyone for being a part of our lives as we celebrated Anneliese's first year of life. It's hard to put into words how valuable the encouraging words, cooked meals, hand-me-downs, love and cuddles that everyone has given to Anneliese has meant to us, and most of all, how amazing God's love and providence has been.
I was also inspired to try to have a low-waste party, so we decided to start a communal party kit that will hopefully be used by many in the years to come. We spent a small amount at Ikea getting cheap but chip-resistant plates, kid bowls, cups and cutlery and also got some second hand cutlery from the Salvo's - all dishwasher safe. So now we can cater for about 50-60 adults and about 30 kids again without too much fuss! :) We tried to serve mainly finger food and had drinks in dispensers, and had bin for food waste so in the end, we created less than a quarter of a garbage bag of waste so yay for the environment too!
